Electrotherapy Treatments

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PMFT)

A pulsed current provided by electromagnets works to reduce inflammation, reduce muscle spasms, aid nerve regeneration and reduce or control pain. This can be provided by way of a mat or rug.

Laser phototherapy

High intensity light emitting diodes apply blue, infrared and red light to a targeted area transforming the chemical structure of tissue cells. The blue light kills bacteria so is effective for infected wounds and the infrared and red light which penetrate deeper treat internal wounds, promote blood circulation and reduce pain.

Therapeutic Ultrasound

This involves the application of sound waves to a specific area effecting a mechanical massage to the targeted area. It can help to improve circulation, reduce the formation of scar tissue and enhance the repair of tendons and ligaments.

H-Wave Therapy

Emulates the nerve signals that are natural to the human body. At the low frequency it activates muscles through non fatiguing muscle contractions and at the higher frequency it controls pain. It improves the circulation of body fluids and the reduction of inflammation.

Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS)

The stimulation of sensory and motor neurones results in a release of neurotransmitters that control pain and can be used to manage post-surgical acute pain and chronic pain.

Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES)

A small electrical current stimulates movement of targeted muscles to rebuild and maintain muscle mass and control pain.

Electrotherapy treatment can be delivered alongside a manual therapy programme of treatment.
